A Cat and 9 Tails has been open just a year. It has done pretty well for a first year. It has enabled us to support many local charities for animals and meet many fine people.
Pet people are the best. We operated in an old fashioned way. If people did not have cash and promised to pay later, when I didn’t have a credit card machine, all but 2 payments came through. That’s a pretty good indication of pet people. I have to believe that the 2 just forgot or came into difficulty and did not openly try to deceive.
I opened Russ’s business Zippity Doo well in advance of mine and spent quite a bit of energy getting his going. Mine was a side line. I hear most business’s take years to even break even- so it is a good business and plan.
As most of you know I have some health conditions and I thought running a business online and at vendor sales I would be able to do it. In the last 3 months I have had 3 serious illnesses and have my ankles and knees have been almost constantly sprained from stumbling.
The new store/business I was partnering with, gave good exposure. Just a couple months ago they have told me they are folding. Many of my future plans and stock I bought was for this store and for promotions we were going to try. So that is a bit disturbing, those plans and inventory are moot now.
These illnesses and now the partner closing have really taken it out of me. Russ and I have decided I should just close up shop. Mentally I am there- physically I can’t. When I get ill, I can’t complete the paperwork on time and it makes for difficulties.
I do have stock and I will place it all at discount. When it is gone, it is gone. I will keep my license for people who want me to seek out something for them that they can’t find. I like doing that.
SO FOLKS- I will update my website in the next 2 weeks with everything I have- and please look to see if there is something your pet may like.
